Algebra II

Explanation

An exponent tells you how many times a number (the base) is multiplied by itself.

Example:
2³ = 2 × 2 × 2 = 8

Key exponent rules:

  • x¹ = x

  • x⁰ = 1 (when x ≠ 0)

  • x⁻ⁿ = 1 / xⁿ

Exponents are used to write large numbers and repeated multiplication efficiently.
