Dilations

Explanation

A dilation changes the size of a shape but keeps the same shape (similar figures).

Key points:

  • Center of dilation: fixed point

  • Scale factor: ratio of new size to original size

    • k > 1 → enlargement

    • 0 < k < 1 → reduction

Example: Dilate point (2,3) with scale factor 2 from origin → (4,6)
