Explanation

The Law of Sines applies to any triangle, not just right triangles.

Formula:
a / sin(A) = b / sin(B) = c / sin(C)

Where:

  • a, b, c are side lengths

  • A, B, C are opposite angles

Used when:

  • You know ASA or AAS

  • Sometimes SSA (ambiguous case)

Quiz

  1. Write the Law of Sines.

  2. What does side a correspond to?

  3. What types of triangles can use this law?

  4. Which angle is opposite side b?

  5. Does the Law of Sines involve sine or cosine?

Answer Key

  1. a/sin(A) = b/sin(B) = c/sin(C)

  2. Angle A

  3. Any triangle

  4. Angle B

  5. Sine
